BC Education Funding Model Review
BC's current system for funding public education has been in place since 2002. The government is about to change this funding model. A panel was formed in 2017 and many recommendations were proposed. Educators were enraged by the proposals, which caused a year delay in implementation. During the 2019 year the government has said that they want input from educators, teachers and parents. In February 2020 the NDP government announced that they will be a delay on the implementation of population based funding.
This website is built to help people understand the new funding model. |
Thank you all for those who have contacted this government and helped delay the implementation of the prevalence model.
This government clearly is willing to listen, so please continue to advocate for better funding in BC education.
This is NOT a topic that teachers can negotiate or bargain for. It is up to the public to make our government aware of our concerns.
Please inform yourself and if you are concerned contact your MLA's.

After reviewing the information and if you agree that this is an important decision for the future of public education, please take the time to contact your local MLA and voice your displeasure.
If your local does not have a NDP MLA, please contact John Horgan and voice your displeasure. Please help spread the word to friends and family. |
Remember every person does matter. We have already caused them to delay the implementation of the funding model for an entire year. But we will need the public (teachers, SEA's, parents, students, grandparents, school boards, etc) to help us make the government understand how important this decision is. We want a funding model that helps us properly fund the BC education system and help all students reach their full potentials.
